Thrilling Victory: Auer Roars to Win DTM Opener at Lausitzring

Lucas Auer claimed his second DTM victory of the season at Lausitzring, showcasing a dominant performance ahead of Maro Engel.

Rene Rast impressively climbed from fifth on the grid to secure a podium finish for Schubert BMW in third place, followed by Jules Gounon, Marco Wittmann, and Thomas Preining.

Despite chaos in the midfield causing damage to some cars, Auer maintained his lead from start to finish while Engel briefly overtook him after a safety car period but was soon overtaken as Auer’s tires performed optimally.

Feller encountered issues with his Audi, allowing Auer to keep Engel at bay and ultimately clinch the win, reclaiming the championship lead in the process.

The action-packed race saw Jack Aitken finish seventh for Emil Frey Ferrari, Ayhancan Guven celebrating his first DTM win, and a top 10 completion by Ben Dorr and Ben Green.

The second DTM race at Lausitzring is scheduled for Sunday at 1:30 pm local time, featuring two mandatory pit stops per driver.
